Animate Inanimate

The most recent project I have done was called 'Animate Inanimate,' I had to produce one photo that included an animate object and an inanimate object. When first given the project brief I wanted to use an old photo as the inanimate object however when researching I then changed my mind and wanted to shoot a silhouette of a model and overlay a paragraph of text on the silhouette. I shot the silhouettes in the studio and found 3 or 4 different quotes I could use however when I edited them over the silhouette they just looked really unprofessional and weren't eye-catching or interesting to look at at all. I then decided to use the theme of nature as the inanimate object, I went and photographed different things such as leaves and walls as I thought the patterns on them would create an interesting pattern on the models skin when merged together. I also reshot the model in the studio and decided not to use silhouette lighting, I researched poses and looked at how the majority of them were lit and they were all bright and white or grey, here is my final image I produced:

Weightless...kind of

The first project I was introduced to when starting second year was the Weightless project whereby you had to create an image where the model looked...weightless believe it or not. By taking multiple shots of the location without the model in and then shots with the model in, I was able to Photoshop out the stools supporting the model to give the look that she was floating. The idea I had was a simple image of the model lying across stools wearing a long, flowing dress, this worked well until it came to editing. As the model was lying down, her hair and the dress were dropping down towards the ground, her hair looks too Photoshopped and too dark however I think the dress isn't too bad as I used it to hide the stool legs which saved me time in post production.
 Here is the final image:

Distort

The next project was a fashion based project with the theme 'distort.' My idea was the distort of colour with bright clashing colours with a 70's twiggy theme. I enjoyed this project however I think the 'distort' could have been clearer although I do like the bright colours although again they could have been even more clashing.

I love the colours in these images and the lighting, I think the model choice worked well too.

Blogging Again!

I seem to have forgotten about this blog for the past...10 months so here is the first post of a summary of what I've been up to (project wise) at college. After the previous food project, I moved onto alive brief with End Clothing whereby I had to produce 9 product shots, a web banner and a look book for a specific brand, I chose H&M. The products I chose to shoot were a bag, a pair of heels and some bracelets, I struggled to choose a third product that would link in with the other two I had chosen.

Here are the final product shots and web banner:

The look book I produced had include all the products used, shooting look books are a favourite of mine and I really enjoyed the styling side to this shoot as I think I chose products that all linked in well together.

Food glorious food...

In relation to my previous post, I have recently been given a new brief at college, the theme of the brief was British food, the images had to look rustic, home baked and honest. After researching into food photography and photographers that specialise in food photography, I decided that i would photograph a Victoria sponge cake. I had to shoot two images, one still life and one lifestyle such as a location or landscape, they had to be shot in such a way that they could produce an A3 double page spread for editorial publication. I shot three times, one practice shoot as i had never photographed food before, one final shoot and one re-shoot of the lifestyle image.

Food Photography

I recently got given a new brief at college involving food photography, today I shot a few practice shots and really enjoyed it. I plan to blog about the final images when it's closer to my deadline but here's one I quickly edited on my phone, I found this practice shoot really helpful as I now know what I want the final images to look like and what I need to change or add to the shot and composition.
